On Saturday July 5, Cody Unser, of the legendary Unser racing team family, showed disabled veterans that scuba diving is accessible for people of all abilities, during her visit to the Mile HIGH City for the National Veterans Wheelchair games. Unser, paralyzed due to Transverse Myelitis, has been an honorary member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) since 2008. Cody and eight disabled veterans, joined the team of A-1 Scuba and Travel Center to dive in the Downtown Aquarium. One veteran commented, “I became a diver after my injury because I knew it would provide an incredible amount of freedom and enjoyment. Your program is by far the best of the best!”

Mile-high tropical diving in the Rocky Mountains? Exhibits create balmy conditions with varied species for divers to experience.
I'm on the inside, looking out through the 11-inch glass at a dozen wiggly, pint-sized campers in matching green T-shirts. They make goofy faces, frantically wave and make signals with their hands that beg an equally silly response. Inside the 400,000-gallon Shipwreck exhibit, aka the Shark Tank, at the Downtown Aquarium in Denver, I'm a diver on display. But before I can act on my big-kid impulse to indulge the little ones, two ferocious-looking sand tiger sharks glide between me and my admirers.

We had the pleasure of meeting Alex Brylske, Senior Editor with Dive Training magazine and he took a dive in the shark exhibit at the Downtown Aquarium. Here is what he had to say:
"Having visited most of the municipal aquariums around the country—and several in other countries—I can say that Denver's is one of my favorites. And in no small measure that's because of the outstanding diving and snorkeling program provided by A-1 Scuba. I'm sure that skiing and other outdoor activities will continue to be the main reason tourists come to Colorado. But, for me, the Denver Aquarium Shark Dive is certainly the best indoor attraction in the state."
